Guy Koller- President of the French Weightlifting Federation, Dies at the age of 65. The entire IWF family is mourning the sudden demise of Guy Koller. Koller was the President of the French Weightlifting Federation. The mishap happened when he was attending the Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria.
Being the President of the upcoming Olympic Game’s host country’s weightlifting federation,Guy Koller was declared the ex-officio member for 2022-2024 of the IWF Executive Board.
IWF announced its deepest condolences and communicated the same to the French Weightlifting Federation as well as to the family of Mr. Guy Koller and his loved ones. With his demise, the weightlifting segment lost one of the great leaders and friends. The world and especially the weightlifting fraternity will miss him.
IWF, in their condolence message, said, “The IWF is sending its deepest condolences to the French Weightlifting Federation and Mr. Guy Koller’s family and loved ones.
“With his passing weightlifting lost a great leader and friend.”
Koller was 65 years old and from Alsace. He was discovered dead in a hotel room in the city of Algerian last Sunday, 3rd July Morning.
Koller got elected last year after getting 77 percent of the given votes. He was the national champion 7 times in the super-heavyweight category between 1978 and 1984.
Bruno Girard was the runner-up in that election, which was held in April 2021, and he sits on the FFHM Board.
