Glenn McGrath predicts Mitchell Starc to have a great IPL 2024 season. Glenn McGrath, an Australian great, believes Mitchell Starc will perform at his peak in the forthcoming IPL 2024 and won’t be hindered by his high price.
At the 2024 auction, the 34-year-old set a record for the most expensive player in IPL history when the Kolkata Knight Riders paid an incredible ₹24.75 crore to get his services. Starc is one of the best white-ball bowlers, although he hasn’t participated in the IPL since 2015.
McGrath stated in a media interview at the MRF Pace Foundation:
“For personal reasons, Starc decided not to attend the IPL. However, he returns and receives a record price. It will be something he is eager to do. He will be just as excellent as any other fast bowler on his day if he is moving the ball about.”
When Pat Cummins, the Australian fast bowling partner of Starc, was traded to the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹20 crore, it became the second most expensive player in IPL history.
Nonetheless, McGrath believes the “price tag” won’t have a negative effect on the seasoned pair.
“The amount of money they received is astounding. However, they are both highly skilled gamers who are familiar with the game. They will play as well as they have in the past when they go out. “I don’t think the price tag will affect them in the slightest,” McGrath continued.
Starc will try to assist KKR in overcoming their death-bowling shortcomings from the previous season. Even though Cummins was named the SRH franchise’s captain.
Strangely, the pair will face off on March 23 at Eden Gardens in SRH vs. KKR, both teams’ season opening.
