The defending champion Lahore Qalandars will take on Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, which is all set to begin in less than two hours. For those who are unaware, the opening match of the PSL 2023 tournament will be a rematch of the PSL 2022 final.
PSL 8, which is essentially a cricketing carnival in the country, aims to replicate the success of the previous season by luring fans to all four venues. Pakistan’s hosting of the entire PSL season for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic should help the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) achieve new heights in terms of gaining traction.
Over the course of 35 days, the six-team tournament will be played. In the league stage, each team will play all other teams twice before a four-match knockout leg that will be played entirely in Lahore next month. It will be interesting to see if any of the five teams that have won the PSL trophy once have done so again, or if Islamabad United wins the PSL for a record third time.
