The final assignment of England’s international winter will be a trip to Bangladesh, which will be followed by a three-match T20I series. The Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will host the first two One-Day Internationals before Chattogram hosts the series finale. All of the matches will begin at noon local time (6 am GMT).
Joe Root and Ben Duckett are still in New Zealand after the Test match series, so England will be without their multi-format players for the series. Will Jacks has flown in ahead of England’s final Test match so that he can participate in the series. James Vince is also back in England’s ODI squad, which includes Rehan Ahmed for the first time. After suffering a side strain while playing for the England Lions in Sri Lanka, Tom Abell has been ruled out of the series and was initially selected for the 15-man squad.
This is Bangladesh’s first series under Chandika Hathurusingha, who previously served as head coach from 2014 to 2017. After returning from the United States 48 hours prior to the game, Shakib Al Hasan is uncertain to start the first match of the series.
Prior to the series, off-field tensions between Shakib and ODI captain Tamim Iqbal were the focus of attention. Clear-the-air discussions reportedly took place between the two senior players prior to the series opener.
