France’s Gustav Mckeon Is The Talking Point of ICC World T20: French cricketer Gustav McKeon becomes the youngest to score a T20I century (Hazratullah Zazai’s 162 from 62 balls). As the most dominant association in cricket, ICC recently shared news of Hazratullah Zazai achieving a world record by over two years with the Afghanistan opener’s unbeaten 162 from 62 balls against Ireland in 2019.
Vantaa: The youngest men’s player to score a century in T20 International was a French batter named Gustav McKeon, who smashed five fours and nine sixes in just 61 balls against Switzerland at the T20 World Cup 2024 Europe Sub-Regional Qualifiers.
Brian McKeon broke the world record of Hazrat Gul Zazai, an Afghan cricketer, by more than two years with his unbeaten six-hundred-and-sixty-two runs at 20 years and 337 days.
Despite only contributing 54 runs, of which 29 were from sixes, McKeon’s record of 245 is enough to better the score by an average score of 144.50 over eight games.
Despite an attempt to lose against their neighbours, Switzerland managed to win by one last ball. With a personal score of 67, Faheem Nazir led from the start before Ali Nayyer took a late-over seven-ball.
With the final three delivered in an absolute belting, Nayyer ensured France didn’t get past the group stage with a four off the final ball of their match. Norway lead Group 2 following two decisive victory’s over Czech Republic and Estonia, however they have yet to score a point.
In Group 1, Austria, Guernsey and Luxembourg have won all of their matches so far. Bulgaria and Slovenia have not won a match yet but will play each other in the Wednesday action. If Guernsey top their group, they will qualify automatically for the World Cup finals.
Shiv Gill, who claimed ‘Player of the Match’ status with a quick knock of 38 off 47 balls, was ineffective as spinner William Peatfield was the match-winning bowler for Jamaica.
The third tournament winner for the Sub-Regional tournament in Europe will be joined by Denmark, Italy, Jersey, and Germany as well as the European sides who fail to qualify for either of the Qualifiers by next year in a European Qualifier. Ireland, the Netherlands and Scotland are added to the list of qualifiers.”
