As the former captain of France served as a coach in Russia, he witnessed Antoinne Griezmann take Petit’s place and score and assist on a goal each.
Mario Mandzukic scored an own goal from a free kick to give France the lead, but Ivan Perisic scored the equalizer for Croatia within a minute.
But Perisic gave away a penalty because he didn’t mark Blaise Matuidi. After a VAR check, France got the penalty, which Griezmann converted to get France back in the lead.
