Formula 1 will continue to race in Melbourne until 2035 as per the new agreement. The Australian Grand Prix will continue to be in Melbourne, the formula one announced the 10-year extension. The Australian Grand Prix has now signed a 10-year extension with Formula 1 which means Melbourne will be part of F2 until 2035.
The Australian Grand Prix already had a deal with F1 till 2025, now they have extended with some additional perks which include Melbourne as host for 5 years out of the next 13 years. The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne hosted the first race in 1996, since then they have been part of F1. The Australian Grand Prix this year was the first in the last three years due to a pandemic scare.
The F1 President express his happiness with the deal
In a statement to the media, the F1 president Stefano Domenicali says ” The racing for fans, drivers, and teams has been a favourite over the years, Melbourne is a perfect city to match our sport.”
Along with other benefits, F2 and F3 will be held at the Albert Park circuit as part of the F1 deal. The president is quite happy with the deal, Stefano expressed his happiness by saying ” I’m delighted about the Melbourne and Albert park deal extension for the F1 calendar until 2035.”
We saw huge crowds this year at the Grand Prix, so we are excited about the future in Australia as our sport grows.
On the other hand, Andrew Westacott Australian Grand Prix CEO also expressed his happiness and welcomed the deal saying it will help to inspire the coming generation of F1 drivers in the country.
Westacott says” We have a proud and strong relationship with F1 over the years and together we will grow the sport in the country. Everyone here at Australian Grand Prix corporation looking forward to taking F1 Australian grand prix to next level.“
