Former U-12 and U-18 Baseball World Cup players will play in the MLB Futures All-Star Game. Pete Crow-Armstrong, who won the 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, is on the National League’s team list. The Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game will be held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 19. The Futures All-Star Game is also part of All-Star Week. It will take place at Dodgers Stadium on Saturday, July 16, at 4 p.m. local time.
National League
Some of the best young players in baseball are on the rosters, including the top two picks in last summer’s MLB Draft, Henry Davis of Pittsburgh, and Jack Leiter of Texas (second overall). In addition, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Robert Hassell, and Kyle Harrison, all of whom are on the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019 All-World Team, will play for the National League. Nick Pratto, who was the most valuable player at the 2015 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, and Anthony Volpe, who won the 2013 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup and got a bronze medal at the 2016 U-15 Baseball World Cup, will help the National League futures team patrol the infield.
Baseball Popularity
Together, the two teams have 17 players who were born outside of the US. This shows how baseball is becoming more popular around the world. The Dominican Republic has six players, Venezuela has five, Cuba has three, and Australia, Canada, and Curacao each have one. Mike Scioscia will lead the National League. He was an All-Star, won a World Series as a catcher and manager, and won a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as a manager.
Jimmy Rollins, who used to be an All-Star shortstop and won the World Series, will be in charge of the American League. In addition, four Minor League Baseball (MiLB) umpires, Hardlen Acosta (Eastern League), Trevor Dannegger (Texas League), James Jean (Southern League), and Dexter Kelley (Western League), will work the All-Star Futures Game (Southern League).
