Former State player returning to UAF
Former State player returning to UAF: The trend of Alaska High School basketball stars returning back to their home state by extending their collegiate playing careers continues. On Tuesday the University of Alaska Fairbanks announced that they are signing a former Anchorage Christian School star player.
The university is Shining Star Player DeMarcus hall-Scriven for the men’s basketball team.
He was transferred from Skagit Valley College and coming from a stand-out season. He has managed to be on all conference Honors in 2021 and 2022 after an average of 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 3.1 assists, and 11 points per game.

In a statement, Greg Sparling, a head coach at UAF said ” offensively he is a dynamic player that can play both Wings spots and at the point. He is quite versatile and we look forward to helping him grow over a couple of years.
He is the latest player to return to the last frontier to play for one of the universities in Alaska. He will join Da’Zhon Wyche of West High, and Jaron Williams of East standout as they are also signed at UAA.
He has led his high school team, the Lions, to the 3A basketball championship in 2019. By sinking in a game-winning throw when 10 seconds were left on the clock.
Both volleyball programs by the University of Alaska were represented in the great Northwest athletic conference. On Friday, the Preseason all-conference team was announced Ellen Floyd, Eve Stephens, and UAA seniors were on the team. The team also has UAF sophomore, Karli Nielson.
Both Stephens and Floyd are coming off all GNAC campaigns in 2021. Nielson is talented from a freshman season in 2021. She recorded 149 kills in 20 matches with an average of 2.66 kills, a .209 percentage. She also has 42 digs on defense.
University of Alaska Fairbanks have signed the stars back. it would be interesting to see how they perform and rise under them. Many basketball Stars from the second University in Alaska have made their names in the game.
