Following an altercation that occurred in a parking lot at approximately 1:58 p.m. PT, the Tacoma Police Department made an announcement via Twitter that a 53-year-old man had been “booked for Drive-By Shooting.”
This happened after the fight. On Wednesday, Shawn Kemp, a Seattle SuperSonics legend and former NBA player, was arrested in Tacoma and charged with hit-and-run assault. Shawn Travis Kemp was booked into the jail at 5:58 p.m. PT on a charge of drive-by shooting, according to Pierce County inmate records. Kemp has come out on top for various NBA titles.
Kemp was selected by Seattle with the 17th overall pick in 1989 after completing his education at Trinity Valley Community College in Texas. He was named to six All-Star teams and three All-NBA second teams during his eight NBA seasons with the Sonics.
His popularity was aided by his extraordinary physicality and explosive dunk skills. Over the course of his career, he averaged 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds, including 16.2 points and 9.6 rebounds while playing for the Sonics.
Kemp has been in trouble with the law before, and this is not the first time. He was arrested in Seattle in 2005 and charged with possessing marijuana and cocaine in his truck. He and other investors opened a marijuana dispensary in Seattle in 2020.
Despite the fact that the investigation is still in its infancy, no additional information has been made available to the general public.
