Former India cricketer feels it’ll be a big disappointment if Bumrah doesn’t get fit in time for T20 WC
Former India Cricketer Feels It’ll Be A Big Disappointment: In the next Twenty20 competition for the Asia Cup, Jasprit Bumrah will not play for the Indian national team. A back issue has rendered the 28-year-old pacer unable to participate in the race.
Since the second one-day international match that India played against England a month ago, the elite pacer has been out of action and has not played for India since then.
India will struggle without Bumrah in the Asia Cup because the wickets in the United Arab Emirates favour the tweakers more. Because of this, India has included four specialist spinners in their squad: Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravi Bishnoi, compared to only three pacers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan. Bumrah’s absence
But things will be different when the Twenty20 World Cup is played in Australia in 2022; the tournament will be held in that year.
Because the pitches in Australia are more favourable to fast bowlers than those in other countries, India will have higher expectations for Bumrah’s performance when the Twenty20 World Cup gets underway in Australia. Even though Bumrah has gone to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to begin his recovery, there is no official indication as to when the great cricket player will be able to return to the playing field.
India’s hopes will take a significant hit if he cannot get well in time. In an interview with India News Sports, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, a former cricketer for India and a member of the selection committee, expressed his concern over the potential impact on Team India should Bumrah be forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury. He stated that it would be very difficult for an up-and-coming pacer to take the place of a veteran like Bumrah in the championship race.
“The loss of Jasprit Bumrah will significantly blow India’s chances. A few players, such as Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna, have been successful. However, it will not be easy to replace Jasprit Bumrah, especially for the Twenty20 World Cup, because Bumrah was such a dominant bowler.”
“If he can’t get back in shape in time for the Twenty20 World Cup, it will be a major letdown. His four overs are quite important since the hitters on the other side don’t try to take any risks against him.”
Bumrah made his first appearance for India in January 2016, and ever since then, he has been the most successful bowler for the Indian team in all three formats of the game. In his career thus far, he has competed in the Twenty20 World Cup on three separate occasions (in 2016, 2021, and 2021), the Champions Trophy in 2017, and the ICC Men’s World Cup in 2019, and on each of those instances, he has ensured that India achieves success.
