Following Glenn Maxwell’s lucky runout, Rohit Sharma goes ahead to kiss Dinesh Karthik. Australia’s big hitter Glenn Maxwell was run out in an unexpected way, despite Dinesh Karthik making a mistake in the 3rd T20I in Hyderabad. This made Indian captain Rohit Sharma happy.
The series had tied 1-1 in Nagpur. And Rohit made a good start when he won the toss and chose to bowl first. After that, India put in Bhuvneshwar Kumar in place of Rishabh Pant, and Australia put Josh Inglis in place of Sean Abbott.
The game
After Aaron Finch was out early, Cameron Green scored 52 with 7 fours and 3 sixes in 21 balls. This gave Australia a great start. But after that, the Indian bowlers did an excellent job of keeping control of the game. Steve Smith was out for 9 runs, and Glenn Maxwell was run out for 6 runs.
But Glenn Maxwell might not have been out if luck hadn’t helped the Indian team.
Maxwell’s run out
Glenn Maxwell hit a short ball from Yuzvendra Chahal to short fine-leg for a single on the fourth ball of the eighth over. But Akshar Patel got to the ball faster than expected, and Maxwell tried to get back to the crease.
Everyone cheered and seemed happy when Akshar Patel hit the stumps directly. But replays showed that Karthik’s gloves, which were in front of the stumps, had moved the bails before the ball hit the stumps. This gave Australian fans hope.
The falling of the bails
But the third umpire chose to look at it from a different angle, which showed that the gloves only moved one bail and that the other bail fell off when the ball hit the stumps. So Maxwell was called out for being run out.
Rohit Sharma went over to Dinesh Karthik and kissed him on the helmet as he smiled and watched the replays on the big screen. This was before the decision was made.
