A top Indian woman sailor has charged her instructor of making her ‘queasy’ during a practice session in Germany, after a misconduct allegation lodged by a cyclist over her instructor while in an orientation trip overseas.
Following cyclist, the sailor has complained against the coach
During her complaint, she stated that the trainer was ‘not behaving well and that he made her feel very uneasy.’ The sailor went on to say that she had protested to the Yachting Association of India (YAI), the country’s regulatory organization for sailing, “a few times.” After she received no answer, she requested the involvement of the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
In a response, SAI stated that the sailor “did not see any harassment concerns,” but that the instructor “generated stress and pressure” throughout practice.
“SAI has got a request from a female sailor presently incarcerated at a foreign exposure camp in Germany.” The Yachting Authority of India conceived and organized the camp, and SAI financed it through ACTC, as is customary,” SAI stated in a statement. “With her complaint, the athlete stated that a coach accompanying the group makes her feel uneasy. The coach in question was nominated by the Federation and would be included in the delegation following the Federation’s recommendation.”
Within her report, the sailor stated that she and her team were urging SAI to ‘please replace’ the instructor since it is ‘hard to perform with him.’ The coach in question is a former Olympian and global medalist.
SAI stated that they had requested a statement from the federation. “Upon receipt of the notice, SAI requested a statement from the federation requesting explanation on when and how many occasions the participant reported to the federation and why no answer was offered to her,” according to the statement. “SAI has requested that the Federation provide this report by the end of day today .”
