Before facing Chennaiyin FC in the ISL 2022–23, Jamshedpur FC coach Aidy Boothroyd said, “I expect tomorrow night to be very, very difficult.” Dillon Danis, an MMA fighter, received a strong blow outside the most recent Misfits Boxing weigh-in.
On Friday afternoon, the Bellator star brawled with YouTube sensation KSI inside the fighter hotel in Austin, Texas. Conor McGregor’s close friend and former Bellator fighter Dillon Danis took a punch to the eye during a chaotic altercation outside of a boxing match on Friday, just moments after he had a crazy run-in with KSI.
The weigh-ins for the YouTubers Misfits Series 3 event were taking place in an Austin, Texas hotel conference room when KSI and a number of other well-known fighters and celebrity boxers arrived. Danis then emerged from the crowd to confront KSI.
KSI made an attempt to pursue Danis but was stopped. While this was happening, Danis and his group fled the area and eventually left the hotel. Anthony Taylor, a former Bellator fighter, yelled at Danis after the event for going after KSI and then repeatedly tried to strike him.
Finally, Taylor unleashed a powerful right hand that struck Danis in the face. Then, everything started to become crazy, and everyone outside started throwing punches. One of the people with Danis at one point appeared to have a bloody lip from a blow to the mouth. After some time, the violence died down and the peace returned. Danis assured a cameraman present that he was okay.
Of course, these types of antics during boxing events are nothing new for Danis and Taylor. Taylor recently got into a street fight before a Floyd Mayweather celebrity boxing match in Dubai, while Danis recently had a fight with Nate Diaz at UFC 281. The KSI event will still take place on Saturday night, with Hasim Rahman Jr. vs. Greg Hardy serving as the main event. When questioned about the incident, Danis, Conor McGregor’s training partner, made light of it.
He stated to iFL TV that “nothing” occurred. We’re fine; it was only a little. Then he said, “I don’t know who that is, to be honest,” denying any knowledge of Taylor’s identity. “I assumed that man in the street was a homeless person.” The two occurrences happened shortly after Danis and his friends got into a fight with Nate Diaz.
After UFC 281, there was a fight outside Madison Square Garden in New York, during which Diaz slapped a member of Danis’ support group.
Danis has recently been involved in more fights outside the cage than inside of it. Due to injuries and inactivity, El Jefe hasn’t engaged in competitive combat in more than three years; his most recent victory came via armbar at Bellator 222.
