FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Trophy Tour Launched in Bhubaneswar by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik
Chief Minister Patnaik expressed his optimism that the trophy trip will be a great success, saying, “I think the Hockey Men’s World Cup Trophy Tour would raise excitement for the World Cup across India. The 16 teams that we will be hosting will compete in games in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
For both the teams and the viewers, he predicted that this World Cup will be memorable.
Tusharkanti Behera, the minister for sports and youth services in Odisha, Bholanath Singh, R. Vineel Krishna, the executive director of Hockey India, Srivastava, officials, and hockey players were all there.
Before the winning team lifts the prestigious trophy on December 25, the trophy will travel through 13 states and one union territory before making its way back to Odisha. This will allow fans and the general public to interact with the trophy.
The trophy will go through the following states throughout the course of the next 21 days: West Bengal, Manipur, Assam, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Chattisgarh.
The Hockey Men’s World Cup Trophy will make a district tour after returning to Odisha. In Sundergarh district, which is renowned for being the birthplace of hockey, the trophy will also stop in 17 blocks, according to officials.
According to them, the final leg of the trip would be in Rourkela before heading back to Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where the finals will be contested on January 29, 2023.
