Lionel Messi’s dream of becoming a world champion has come true. Argentina beat France 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out in the FIFA World Cup final played on Sunday. Both the teams were tied at 2-2 till the stipulated 90 minutes.
The match was tied 3-3 after extra time. After this, the decision was taken by penalty shootout. Messi scored two goals in the final. At the same time, Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France.
Argentina has won the World Cup after 36 years. Earlier, he got the title success in 1986. This is Argentina’s overall third title. The team became world champion for the first time in 1978.
At the same time, France’s dream of becoming world champion for the second time in a row remained incomplete. The team became the champion in 2018. France has lost in the penalty shootout in the final of the World Cup for the second time.
Earlier in 2006, they had lost in the penalty shootout in the final against Italy.
Mbappe’s hat trick in the 118th minute
In the 116th minute, Kylian Embappé of France hit a shot toward Argentina’s penalty box. The ball hit the arm of Argentina’s Montiel standing in the box. The referee saw it and awarded the penalty to France.
Kylian Mbappé equalized the team this time by hitting a shot on the bottom right side. After this goal, the score line became 3-3.

After the score line was 2-1 in the 80th minute, France continued to attack. In the 81st minute, Coman of France took the ball and passed it to fellow player Kylian Mbappé. Mbappe passes the ball to Thuram and Thuram passes the ball back to Mbappe.

There was no goal in the first half of the extra time. Then in the 108th minute of the second half, Lautaro Martinez of Argentina hit the goal. The ball hit the French goalkeeper and went to Lionel Messi. Messi shot toward the goal and the score line became 3-2.
