Lionel Messi’s dream of becoming a world champion has come true. Argentina beat France 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out in the FIFA World Cup final played on Sunday. Both the teams were tied at 2-2 till the stipulated 90 minutes.
The match was tied 3-3 after extra time. After this, the decision was taken by penalty shootout. Messi scored two goals in the final. At the same time, Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France. Argentina has won the World Cup after 36 years. Earlier, he got the title success in 1986.
This is Argentina’s overall third title. The team became world champion for the first time in 1978. At the same time, France’s dream of becoming world champion for the second time in a row remained incomplete.
The team became the champion in 2018. France has lost in the penalty shootout in the final of the World Cup for the second time. Earlier in 2006, they had lost in the penalty shootout in the final against Italy.
