FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023: Here’s what you need to know about the qualified teams. The 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be the 23rd time. It has been held since it began in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The FIFA U-20 World Cup is an international men’s youth football championship held every two years and played by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It will be held in Indonesia. This will be the first time the country has held a FIFA tournament. It will also be the first time since 1997 that the U-20 World Cup will be held in Southeast Asia. It will also be the first FIFA tournament in the area since the FIFA Futsal World Cup in 2012.
For the 2023 tournament, players must be 20 years old or younger and have been born on or after January 1, 2003. Players must also have been born on or before December 31, 2007. Even though many of these players are still a few years away from becoming big stars by the time the tournament starts, they are all names to keep an eye on.
A Deeper Insight
Twenty-four teams compete for the U-20 World Cup trophy every two years at the men’s FIFA U-20 World Cup. The 2021 event was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 event will be held in 2023. The 24 countries that make it to the tournament in 2023 will be split into 6 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams in each group and the four third-place teams with the most points move on to the next round.
Indonesia automatically qualified to host the men’s 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and seven other countries have joined them. All five of the European countries and two of the North American countries are in Europe. North America, Europe, and Oceania will all hold their continental championships in the summer of 2022. South America, Asia, and Africa will all hold their tournaments early in 2023.
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it was not allowed to take part in UEFA qualifying.
