FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup- Groups, Schedule, and other details
India has been drawn to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup from Group A. In 2020, a biennial youth Tournament was going to take place in India, but due to a pandemic, it got canceled.
Now India is all set to host the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the country will host its second FIFA competition after the U-17 World cup in 2017.
Venue and Matches
The Group a Matches are going to take place on October 11, 14, and 17 in Odisha’s capital city. A total of 32 matches will take place between 16 teams in four different groups A, B, C, and D respectively.
Each venue will host the double headers on every match day. DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai will host 10 matches and Nehru Stadium in Goa will host a maximum of 16 matches. The quarter-final will take place on October 21 and 22 in Mumbai and Goa. The final will be held on October 30 in DY Patil Stadium giving us the winner of the 7th biennial youth tournament.
Bhuvaneshwar will host group games, and Mumbai will host finals. Semi-finals and Quarterfinals will be hosted between Mumbai and Goa.
Team to play 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup
India Being the host gets Qualified for the tournament, and the rest 15 teams are qualified based on performances in their continents respectively.
According to the format, the tournament will feature 4 groups and teams will be divided into these. The winners and runner-ups of these groups will reach the Quarterfinals. The list of qualified teams includes India, China PR, Japan, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Canada, Mexico, United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, New Zealand, France, Germany, and Spain.
The matches will begin on October 11 and India will start their tournament on opening matchday on the second day at Bhubaneswar. Quarter-Finals will take Place on October 21 and 22, and finals on 30.
