FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2022 qualifications- Japan and Turkmenistan dominate
FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2022 has begun its qualification on 6 July 2022 in Singapore, the qualification will continue till 10 July.
On the first day of qualification, Japan Men’s and Turkmenistan Women’s teams were dominating and easily stormed their way through the main draw of FIBA Asia cup qualification with their performances.
The no. 2 seed Japan in the first Asian continental championship since 2019 as they qualified for 12 teams in the main draw. The teams qualified alongside Chinese Taipei, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and New Zealand.
In front of the world-known Marina Bay Sands with a heated face-off, Turkmenistan and Indonesia have made their way to the 5th edition of the Asia Cup.
The teams and players
Japan is one of the main contenders for the Asia cup, cruising Iraq and Malaysia and proving themselves. Ryutob Yasuoka was good and Tomoya Ochiai were flame flowers.
The Turkmenistan Women’s team managed to pull out a victory in humid conditions and dominated the draw E. The seed started with an impressive victory over Speedy Guam and clinched an easy win over Kazakhstan.
Turkmenistan needed to win against Papua New Guinea to have guaranteed a spot, but they came as a surprise for them. Now Turkmenistan has a spot in Pool D along with Chinese Taipei and Sri Lanka.
Yasuoka made 18 points in two games helping japan to advance for their first Asia cup. While Gokvoa is unstoppable with 31 points in 3 games helped Turkmenistan to guarantee their spot. Out of all draws, b has been more tense.
Day 2 draws to qualify
To qualify for the Asia Cup, both men’s and women teams have day two as follows:
Women’s
Draw A: Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam
Draw B: Philippines, Thailand, Jordan
Draw C: India, New Zealand, Palestinian territory
Men’s
Draw C: Jordan, Philippines, Indonasia
Draw E: Turkmenistan, India, Palestinian Territory
Draw F: Korea, Iran, Kuwait
Draw H: China, Sri Lanka, Tonga
