Ferrari is the second team to announce the 2023 Formula 1 car’s launch date, which is Valentine’s Day.
Ferrari made the announcement on Thursday that its new rival, which is currently codenamed Project 675, will be shown to the world on February 14.
This will take place one day after a presentation by Aston Martin, the team that was the first to announce its plans for the launch last week.
A brief statement from Ferrari read, “Ferrari’s 2023 car will be launched on St. Valentine’s Day, making February 14 next year a special day for lovers…of the Scuderia.”
“The new car, which will compete in the 73rd season of the Formula 1 World Championship, will go by project number 675, and its official name will be revealed at a later date.
“For the third sequential year, driving obligations will tumble to the matching of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.”
Frederic Vasseur, who will take over as Ferrari team principal on January 9 following Mattia Binotto’s resignation at the conclusion of the season, will lead the first unveiling.
Vasseur will lead a Ferrari team that is looking to continue its recent upward trajectory after Leclerc’s victory in Bahrain last season ended a two-and-a-half-year winless streak.
However, 2022 was also a year of missed opportunities because Ferrari was unable to sustain a title challenge against Red Bull with its early-season pace. After the Austrian Grand Prix in July, it didn’t win a race, but it managed to stay in second place in the constructors’ championship, ahead of Mercedes.
The Ferrari car for next year is said to have focused on two key areas where the team thought it lost to Red Bull in 2022: increasing its top speed by increasing aerodynamic efficiency and attacking tyre management and degradation, where the team suffered late in the season as it tried harder to keep up with Red Bull.
Nine days before the start of F1 pre-season testing, which takes place at the Bahrain International Circuit from 23 to 25 February, the Ferrari car will be released. On March 5, the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix will take place.
