Federico Valverde Biography. Federico Santiago Valverde Dipetta is a professional footballer from Uruguay. He was born on July 22, 1998, and plays as a central midfielder or right winger for Real Madrid and the Uruguay national team. He is a versatile player known for his speed, endurance, and work rate. He can be used as a defensive midfielder, a right-winger, and even sometimes as a right back.
Club career
Valverde played for Pearol for most of his youth career, where he quickly made a name for himself. He played his first game for Pearol in the first game of the 2015–16 season, which was against Cerro. After that, he joined the Uruguayan youth teams, and clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Real Madrid showed interest in him.
He moved from Pearol to Real Madrid in July 2016 and was put on the B team. Two months later, Valverde played his first game for Castilla against Real Unión. His team lost, though. During his first season, he became a regular member of the second team. In December 2016, he scored his first goal for Castilla against Albacete.
Valverde impressed new manager Julen Lopetegui during the 2018–19 preseason after coming back from loan, and he was given a spot on the first team. Valverde played his first game for Real Madrid on October 23, 2018, against Viktoria Plze in the UEFA Champions League Group stage at the Bernabéu. He was barely a 20-year-old at the time. In his first season with the first team, he played 25 games and won the FIFA Club World Cup.
As an international player
Federico Valverde won the Silver Ball at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where Uruguay came in fourth place. In August 2017, he was called up to the full team for the first time. On September 5, 2017, he made his first appearance with the Uruguay national football team and scored his first international goal in a game against Paraguay. He was on Uruguay’s preliminary list of 26 players for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but didn’t make the final list of 23 players.
Manager scar Tabárez chose Valverde to be part of Uruguay’s final 23-person team for the 2019 Copa América in Brazil. In the quarterfinals on June 29, Uruguay played Peru. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, so it went to a penalty shootout. Uruguay lost 4–5, and they were out of the tournament.
Federico Valverde’s Personal life
Mina Bonino, an Argentinian journalist and TV host is in a relationship with Valverde. They have one child together. He is named Benicio and was born on February 20, 2020.
