Fans upset as Ravichandran Ashwin is dropped for second India vs South Africa Test
Ravichandran Ashwin, Team India’s senior off-spinner, has been replaced in the playing XI for the ongoing second Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday, January 3.
After Jadeja was ruled out of the Test series opener in Centurion due to a back spasm, Ashwin was named to the starting XI.
The veteran spinner, however, was demoted when Jadeja returned to the lineup for the series decider.
It is worth noting that Ravichandran Ashwin is now rated first in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
He bowled well in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion. And taking one wicket and giving 41 runs in 19 overs.
The Men in Blue were defeated by an innings and 32 runs in the Boxing Day Test. Therefore destroying their dreams of winning their first Test series on South African soil.
As India makes two changes for the second Test, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur are dropped
South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. Ravindra Jadeja and Mukesh Kumar took the place of Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur for India.
The Proteas, made three changes, with Tristan Stubbs, Lungi Ngidi, and Keshav Maharaj replacing Temba Bavuma, Gerald Coetzee, and Keegan Petersen.
