Fans say after Babar Azam collapses under duress in the second Test between AUS and PAK
Pakistan’s star hitter Babar Azam was out for 41 in the fourth innings of the Boxing Test match on Day 4 (Friday) in the ongoing three-match Test series against Australia.
With the Men in Green needed to chase down an intimidating 317-run target, it was up to talisman Babar to put his team in control after a rocky start.
Walking out to bat at No. 4, the former captain had a promising start but was unable to turn it into a huge one. In the 41st over of the innings, he was clean bowled by Josh Hazlewood.
It’s worth noting that the right-handed hitter was similarly bowled when Pat Cummins penetrated his defense in the first innings. Following his firing, some supporters mocked him on social media.
Babar Azam has had a year to forget. Throughout the year, the promising hitter failed to get going in Test cricket, finishing with 205 runs from nine innings.
In the format, he failed to reach 50 runs even once this year.
Babar Azam’s dismissal aided Australia’s victory in the Boxing Day Test
Australia got off to a flying start with the ball, as Abdullah Shafique was dismissed in the fifth over after scoring only five runs.
Imam-ul-Haq, his opening partner, too failed to make an impression, being dismissed for 12 in the 15th over.
Shan Masood and Babar Azam combined for a vital 61-run third-wicket partnership. During his time at the crease, Pakistan’s skipper shown strong intent, scoring 60 runs off 71 balls.
The dismissals of Babar and Saud Shakeel catapulted Australia to a commanding lead in the competition.
