The hosts now lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening Twenty20 International in Mohali on Thursday. The second T20I of the series is being held tonight at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Virat Kohli has returned to the starting lineup following his absence from the last match due to personal issues.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who missed the match in Mohali because of a niggle, was back in the starting lineup. In the XI, Tilak Varma and Shubman Gill made way for the pair. In the first Twenty20 International, Tilak scored 26(22) after coming in at number three, while Gill had a brief appearance of 23(12) while starting the batting.
Shubman Gill has only amassed 335 runs at an average of 25.77 across 14 games, including a century and a half-century, in T20Is, failing to demonstrate the necessary consistency. Many have questioned his spot in the playing XI because of his unspectacular record.
