Faf du Plessis Is Back With The Super Kings
Faf du Plessis Is Back With The Super Kings: Former Chennai Super Kings batter, Faf du Plessis, is all set to reunite with the franchise. He has been reported by CSK’s management to be the team’s marquee player in South Africa’s new T20 league, which is to start next year and have six teams. Cricket South Africa hasn’t yet named the tournament but it will have IPL franchise owners as its participants–all of them belonging to Faf.
Currently, Mumbai Indians are the sole team to have bought a South African T20 League franchise. The ownership of Delhi Capitals , Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants were able to buy franchises in Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Paarl and Durban respectively.
All six teams already made some key signings by the deadline in the Direct Acquisition of Players. They required all six franchises to submit a list with at least one South African player, and a maximum of five players.
The IPL CSA rules allow no more than three foreign players and one uncapped player on each team. Reporters have noted that all six teams have kept some of their players from the previous year’s tournament.
As per Cricbuzz, with the IPL franchise CSK in South Africa, Du Plessis has been roped in by the team. The former captain for South Africa was part of the CSK squad from 2011 to 2021 but just two seasons in 2016 and 2017, when CSK wasn’t participating in IPL. However, their efforts at retaining him in this past IPL mega auction couldn’t be fruitful as he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Apart from Du Plessis, Cape Town has also signed England all-rounder Moeen Ali for their Johannesburg franchise. Ali will play for a CSK-owned team in the IPL and South African CSA T20 league. Mumbai Indians bought a team in ME Cape Town, as well as signing several superstars.
Delhi Capitals have signed Rashid Khan, Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada and Liam Livingstone to play in South African T20 league. Delhi Capitals have also retained Anrich Nortje while Sunrisers Hyderabad signed up Aiden Markram to their side.
As Super Giants keep hold of a high-profile player like Quinton de Kock, the side has proved to be incredibly successful thus far. By retaining several of their stars from last year as well, Rajasthan Brave’s owner have made it clear that they intend to maintain a certain level of quality for their team.
