Fabian Allen: “It’s the biggest game of my life”
Fabian Allen: “It’s the biggest game of my life”: With a six month hiatus from the West Indies squad, Fabian Allen is happy to be given a chance to represent his country again ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Allen, a left-arm spin bowler who has represented cricket in the Caribbean Premier League, has not been present with Cricket West Indies, only to return this June.
Allen revealed in a statement that he lost his father to cancer earlier this year and thanked CWI for their support throughout a very difficult time for me and my family. He confirmed by posting on Instagram that he is available to represent the US internationally, too.
Alan, who plays for West Indies and England, said that his father passed away this year and was his biggest fan. He was proud of Alan when he played cricket professionally. As he plays football with the rest of their family, Alan continues to make his dad proud.
Allen thanked Cricket West Indies for their support, reiterating his desire for an international return (to play cricket).
Jayson Chatley [striker of the team] said he was grateful for his team for their support. He made it clear that he wants to represent his country and West Indies cricket, as long as he gets enough game time on the pitch with no hindrances.
It was very important for me to spend time with my family during the summer. In fact, it wasn’t until we were already in the midst of our training cycle that I decided to stay home during certain weeks.
Allen says that the best is yet to come. Knowing he has the ability to be one of the best all rounders in the world, Fabian is preparing for this and other upcoming tournaments – including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and ICC T20 World Cup.
Allen was the top run scorer from last week and will represent Jamaica Tallawahs at this weekend’s CPL tournament where he will hope to make a case for an international slot for the West Indies T20 team.
