Kiwi Player Daryl Mitchell has become the first batsman to score three centuries in a Test series abroad for New Zealand. New Zealand scored a good score of 329 runs in their first innings against England in the third Test of the ongoing series here at Leeds. Daryl Mitchell has shown excellent form again and has scored a century in the third consecutive Test. Mitchell scored 109 runs in 228 balls by hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. Daryl Mitchell had earlier scored a century in both Lord’s and Nottingham Tests as well.
Promising spinner from England Jack Leach took 5 wickets for his team. While Stuart Broad took 3 wickets too. Matthew and Jamie Overton shared 1-1 wickets each. After winning the first two Test matches, the Britishers are leading the series 2-0.
Third NZ batsman to score 3 centuries in a series
Daryl has become only the third batsman from Kiwis to score three centuries in a Test series. Before Daryl, Andrew Jones and Ross Taylor had done this feat. Andrew Jones scored 3 centuries in a series against Sri Lanka in 1991 and Ross Taylor in 2013 against West Indies. However, both those series were played on their home soil. In this way, Daryl Mitchell has become the first NZ batsman to score 3 centuries in a Test series abroad.
