England, India stars surge into top 10 in Men’s Test Player Rankings. As a result of their recent success at the plate, Jonny Bairstow and Rishabh Pant have moved into the top 10 of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings.
With an unbeaten 114, Bairstow pushed England beyond India in the fourth innings and helped propel them to a surprise victory. He is now ranked tenth in the world in Test batting.
The 32-year-old is in perhaps the best form of his career, having scored four tonnes in his last three Tests. This includes two centuries in the postponed Test against India.
In the current ICC World Test Championship cycle, Bairstow has scored 1218 runs at a 55.36 average with six hundred.
Bairstow’s incredible ascent is reflected in his rating; prior to the New Zealand series, the Yorkshireman was ranked 47th in batters’ rankings, with 541 points. With four hundred in as many matches, he has returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2018.

Pant, who also bats as a wicketkeeper, scored 146 runs off 111 balls in the first innings to help India take the lead in the Test against England.
Having scored two tonnes and three half-centuries in his last six Test innings, Pant has risen six spots to sixth in the Test batting rankings, his highest ever.
After scoring just 11 and 20, Virat Kohli fell three spots to 13th in the batting rankings after facing England.
Joe Root’s undefeated century (142*) during England’s record pursuit at Edgbaston propelled him to his best rating points and cemented his reign atop the rankings (923).
Along with that, the former England skipper is now among the top 20 highest-rated batters in the history of the ICC Rankings.
James Anderson has contributed to England’s success since his recall by taking 17 wickets in three Tests, including five in the first innings of the most recent match against India.
The resurgent fast bowler moves up the rankings by one notch, placing him sixth overall in Tests.
Nathan Lyon has moved up five places to 13th after collecting nine wickets in the opening Test against Sri Lanka.
The top 10 Test all-rounders have not changed positions, but Australia’s Cameron Green has moved closer to the top 10 by climbing three places to the 14th slot.
Men’s T20I Rankings
After posting numbers of 22/1 and 27/1 against Bangladesh, Akeal Hosein jumped 10 spots to enter the top 10 of the T20I bowling rankings.
Both Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and the left-arm orthodox spinner from India, the latter of whom is tied with him with eight wickets apiece.
The T20I all-rounder rankings were updated, as Papua New Guinea’s Norman Vanua surged 10 spots to ninth after scoring 91 runs and taking 3 wickets in two games.
Top-tier T20I batsmen have not changed positions
