In a big breakthrough in sports nutrition, the England cricket team has opted to bring their chef on their next seven-week trip to India. This one-of-a-kind step attempts to meet the athletes’ health and dietary demands.
England previously used a personal chef for their tour of Pakistan, so the practice is not unique. Despite a few food poisoning occurrences, the program was regarded as effective, contributing to the team’s strong mood and a 3-0 Test series victory.
England cricket team has opted to bring their chef
With the upcoming five-Test tour of India, England has opted to bring their chef to the subcontinent nation to reduce the risk of illness among its players.
The Telegraph reports that their chef would join the squad in Hyderabad before the commencement of the first Test on January 25.
The Englishmen had brought a chef to Pakistan for their historic trip in December 2022, but some members of the squad had been unwell on the eve of the first Test in Rawalpindi.
According to the analysis, tourists have also stated that they believe the hosts offer clean facilities but have emphasized the importance of nutritional meals rather than spicy cuisine.
Omar Meziane, who presently works for the English football club Manchester United, is expected to go with the national cricket squad.
Coach Brendon McCullum is said to have approved the decision, and the ECB will pay for the chef’s services. While it is normal for football and rugby teams to bring their chef on international visits, England is the first cricket team to do so.
The five-Test series will be an evaluation for Ben Stokes, who has yet to lose a series since taking over as captain from Joe Root in May 2022. The Englishmen’s past two excursions to India were abysmal, with defeats of 4-0 and 3-1.
They were, however, the last side to defeat India in a series on home soil, when Alastair Cook’s men won a historic series in 2012.
Their most recent Test series was against Australia, and the five-match series ended 2-2. The tourists, however, kept the Ashes urn since Pat Cummins’ men were the original holders.
