England cricket board declared their 14-member squad for their series of 3 ODI matches against South Africa starting from July 11. After the impressive performance in the one-off test match against South Africa, two players Lauren Bell and Issy Wrong both got selected in the women’s ODI squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Issy wrong and Lauren bell are young pacers, wrong took 3 wickets during a test match in Taunton where bell also got 2 wickets but the match ended up as a draw due to rain.
In that test match in Taunton, Alice Davidson-Richards scored a century which was her debut match. After which she was recalled to the ODI squad against South Africa. Before this, she played this format against India in 2018.
Head coach of England women’s cricket team Lisa Keightley said that the team is delighted with the energy, performance and skills these debutants provide to the team in the test matches she further said that as a team they will look forward and try to improve as much as possible.
She also added that she is expecting similar performance in the ODI’s from the players throughout the summers, she said that many new players are coming forward and putting their hands in winning the games for England will make the selection tougher for the other players.
The 3-match ODI series will start on 11 July 2022 in Northampton, and the last match of the series will be on 18 July 2022.
The selected 14-member squad for England is as follows:
Heather Knight (c), Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Amy Jones, Emma Lamb, Nat Sciver, Issy Wong, Danni Wyatt.
