Emile Smith Rowe, an attacker for Arsenal, has provided insight into the impact that Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus have had on the Gunners this season. At the beginning of the season, few people anticipated that Mikel Arteta and his team would compete for the Premier League title.
However, the club currently leads the standings and is on track to win its first championship since 2004. With 69 points, Arsenal leads the table and has won 22 and drawn three of their 28 games thus far. To catch up to the leaders before the season’s end, Manchester City, who are eight points behind, would need to put in a lot of effort.
It’s interesting to note that the Gunners’ quest for the title is led by two former Cityzens players. Jesus and Zinchenko were acquired by the north London giants from Pep Guardiola’s team last summer for just under £85 million each. According to Smith Rowe, Arsenal has benefited most from their mind rather than their contributions on the field.
The Englishman, impressed by the pair, told The Sun that he was surprised Manchester City decided to sell them last summer: “The arrival of Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus seemed to alter the entire dynamic. They have been there and understand what it’s like to win.
Because of their unbelievable mentality, I’d have to say that a lot of it was because of them when they came in. One of the best technical players I’ve seen is Zinchenko. It breaks my heart that City let them go.
Jesus has sacked five objectives and six helps from 16 Head Association appearances for the Heavy weapons specialists. Despite the fact that Zinchenko has only scored three goals, he has excelled as an inverted fullback.
Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe expressed a desire to play more :
Smith Rowe, on the other hand, has struggled to get into Arsenal’s starting lineup this season. He has only played for 106 minutes so far in the top division. He told The Sun that he wanted to be involved more often:
“I want to play so badly. The group is doing all around well and it’s clearly something I need to be a piece of. Every day, I put in a lot of effort. I’ve never really been in this position before, really, where I’ve been excluded so much.
“I am aware that the team is on fire and performing exceptionally well. In this way, I’ve recently got to ensure I stay fit too and when the supervisor needs me, I will be prepared to perform.” In the final stretch of the season, Arteta’s decision to play Smith Rowe more frequently or not remains to be seen.
