Elena Rybakina- The Kazak Player Bagged Women’s Wimbledon Title
Elena Rybakina- The Kazak Player Bagged Women’s Wimbledon Title. Elena Rybakina defeated Ons Jabeur in the Wimbledon final 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. She played really well on Saturday. Elena emerged as the first Kazak tennis player to win a Grand Slam singles championship.
She is 23-year-old and was born in Moscow. Rybakina played for Kazakhstan since 2018. The nation offered her the fund to support her career in tennis. This switch remained a topic of conversation in Wimbledon. The All-England Club restricted all players. The ones representing Russia or Belarus in this tournament were restricted. It was because of the Ukraine war.
Starting from 1962, it was the first women’s title match at the All-England Club between two debutant players in a major final.
Rybakina, is currently ranked No. 23. After WTA computer rankings started in 1975, only one woman ranked below Rybakina won the Wimbledon title. It was Venus Williams in 2007. At that time, she was at No. 31. Earlier she remained No. 1. Before that she bagged three of her five career trophies from the All-England Club.
The Kazakh player took advantage of her big serve with a powerful forehand. It helped her to overcome spins and slices of Jabeur at the Centre Court last Saturday. Rybakina closed Jabeur’s 12-match winning record. The wins were entirely on the grass courts.
After the win, she exhaled. Rybakina walked towards the net. She shakes her hand with her opponent, Ons Jabeur. Elena just smiled and looked up to note excitement in the Centre Court guest box. There was no screaming of joy, collapse, or jumping in the air by her.
“I need to teach her,” “how to celebrate really good,” Jabeur noted later.
The moment to realize the win came during the news conference. The media questioned the reason behind the lack of visible expression in court. One of the reporters asked Rybakina about her parents’ reaction to the win. They were absent on Saturday; she got no time to speak to them yet.
“Probably,” she said, with eyes welling out tears, and face red, with a hand placed on her mouth, “they’re going to be super proud.”
With a pause, Rybakina joked, “You wanted to see emotion!”
