Elena Rybakina – First player after 2006 to win Wimbledon from a set down
Elena Rybakina – First player after 2006 to win Wimbledon from a set down. Elena Rybakina entered her name as the first player from Kazakhstan, to bag a Grand Slam title. It was a definite proud moment for Elena and Kazakhstan.
In the Wimbledon final, Elena Rybakina defeated Ons Jabeur. The final was on Saturday 9th July. With 3-6, 6-2, 6-2-win, Elena emerged as the first player representing Kazakhstan ever to win the Grand Slam title. She is also the first woman in the last 16 years to return after a setdown. She ended up winning the Wimbledon final.
The last woman who achieved this position was Amelie Mauresmo. She defeated Justine Henin in one of the all-one-handed-backhand battles. The match was played in the 2006 final, and she won in sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. We hope to see many more new players in coming time at Wimbledon ground.
