Duleep Trophy 2023: Dinesh Karthik queries the exclusion of Baba Indrajith from the South Zone squad: Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian wicketkeeper, has questioned the Zonal Selection Committee for leaving middle order hitter Baba Indrajit out of the South Zone team for the Duleep Trophy, which will begin later this month.
Karthik expressed support for Indrajith on Twitter, who has recently been one of Tamil Nadu’s most reliable performances. He and all-rounder Vijay Shankar were overlooked by the zonal selection for the Competition, which begins on June 28.
Karthik stated in a tweet that he no longer understands the selecting committee.
“These days, I don’t comprehend the selecting committee. During the first week of March 2023, Baba Indrajith takes the pitch for the Rest of India against MO. He hasn’t played in any first-class games since, however, he does not represent South Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Can someone please explain why? In his tweet, Karthik wrote.
In Goa on Tuesday, the South Zone selection committee chose a 15-member squad.
India lost the World Test Championship Final, which KS Bharat recently played in, to Australia in London by a score of 209 runs.
Along with his Andhra teammate Ricky Bhui, Bharat has been selected as the wicketkeeper. If Bharat is chosen for the two test series against the West Indies, he might not be able to participate in the full competition.
Hanuman Vihari, a former all-rounder for India, is the captain of the South Zone squad when it resumes competitive cricket. Since suffering a forearm injury in Indore, Vihari has been sidelined.
