Hall of Famer and outspoken analyst Charles Barkley is never one to hold his tongue. Whether it’s on the set of Inside the NBA or a candid public appearance, Barkley consistently provides fans with laughs.
During an episode of The Steam Room with Ernie Johnson, the Chuckster broke down some steam room etiquette. As it turns out, there’s apparently one golden rule for Charles Barkley when it comes to being in a steam room.
“It’s 100% correct to keep your damn towel on. Ok? Ernie jokes about it, but do not be naked in the steam room,” Charles Barkley said.
That prompted a response from Ernie Johnson, who questioned whether or not it was acceptable to be naked in the steam room by yourself. Barkley quickly shut him down, saying:
“No. There’s nothing more annoying when you’re in the steam room with people who just standing around naked the whole time. Keep your d**n towel on.
“If you go to the steam room, go to the opposite corner! Don’t sit right beside somebody. That’s annoying as h*ll, like this a big a** steam room. You have to sit that close to me?” Barkley said.
Charles Barkley celebrates the 31-year anniversary of a monster game
His golden rule for steam room etiquette isn’t the only reason Barkley is in the headlines this week. Today, on March 22, Barkley also celebrates the anniversary of his famous 37-point, 16-rebound game with a broken nose.
The game took place on March 22, 1992, when the 76ers star went off against his former Auburn teammate Chuck Person, while holding him to 16 points. The game produced one of Barkley’s most iconic highlights — his massive two-handed fastbreak dunk.
Despite his performance, the 76ers ended up losing the game 108-100 to the Indiana Pacers, with Rik Smits and Detlef Schrempf each having 23 points.
Charles Barkley’s prediction for the March Madness tournament this year
This year, despite his love for Auburn, Charles Barkley predicted that Alabama would win it all. So far, that prediction seems to have been a good one. Auburn eliminated the Iowa Hawkeyes in the first round; however, they then lost to the University of Houston in the second round.
On the flip side, Alabama is set for a Sweet 16 matchup with No. 5 ranked San Diego State amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the team. With the team riding plenty of momentum into the matchup after a big 73-51 win over Maryland in the second round, things are looking up. At the same time, San Diego seems to be on a bit of a hot streak as well.
In the second round, they picked up a dominant win over No. 13 ranked Furman 75-52 to clinch a Sweet 16 spot.
