Jurgen Klopp has announced that Divock Origi, a “Liverpool icon,” will leave the club this summer, with the attacker poised to join AC Milan when his contract ends.
Divock Origi, “Liverpool legend,” is set to quit the club this summer
Since joining Liverpool in 2015, Origi has become a cult figure because to a succession of historic goals, most notably his comeback-sealing double against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals and his stoppage-time winner against Everton in 2019.
But the addition of Luis Diaz in January has only exacerbated Origi’s lack of first-team opportunities, and his desire for more regular action will almost certainly see him leave Merseyside for Milan at the end of the season.
Klopp stated that”I anticipate Div to be given a special send-off. He will always be a Liverpool legend to me, and it has been a pleasure to work with him “
“He’s among the most significant players I’ve ever had.” He will be a complete success wherever he goes. When he goes, it will be a difficult time. He is, without a doubt, a Liverpool legend.”
Klopp continued, “I don’t want to see anyone leave, but that’s life.” Nobody has approached me and expressed a desire to quit. That is not the time. What occurred this year is feasible due of the group; world-class players. It was also lovely to see the kids participate.
“I have no clue who wants to go at the moment, but if someone comes to me and says they have a club they want to join, we will make an offer to the club.”
“Origi has accepted personal conditions,” Sky Sports News’ David Ornstein reported earlier on Friday.
“It’s not a done deal in terms of a physical and finalising that move, but he hasn’t made enough appearances at Liverpool to activate the contract extension provision.”
“It’s only a matter of putting the final touches on what would be a really legendary transfer at the age of 27, with Milan striving to win the Italian title and go back into the Champions League, which I think is likely.”
