Dinesh Karthik praises South Zone’s Baba Indrajith for scoring a century. Dinesh Karthik, the wicketkeeper for India, said that his Tamil Nadu teammate Baba Indrajith has been excellent with the bat for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy tournament. The five-day final is going on right now.
West Zone had scored 270, with Het Patel making 98 and Jaydev Unadkat making 47*. Basil Thampi and C. Stephen each took two wickets, and R. Sai Kishore took 5/86.
South Zone was in a bit of trouble when Indrajith took over. He scored 118 runs in 125 balls, hitting 14 fours. At the end of the day, South Zone had 310/7 runs, with Manish Pandey scoring 48 and K Gowtham scoring 43.
Dinesh Karthik, the wicketkeeper for India and Indrajith’s zonal teammate, praised him on Twitter for his noteworthy century. DK seemed sure that the 28-year-old batter would be called up by India anytime soon.
He wrote on Twitter, “Yet another High quality 100 from a terrific player in a highly intense Duleep trophy final. What a terrific first-class record so far. India call round the corner. Well played indutta. @IndrajithBaba.”
Baba’s form
Before this match, Baba Indrajith averaged 52.94 runs per game in First-Class cricket, where he had scored 3865 runs in 57 games. Since the beginning of 2016, he has scored more than 2,512 runs in 33 games, which is an average of over 66. No India batter in the tournament has had a better average than Indrajith since 2016. Since he can also do keeping, he checks all the boxes for an India call-up.
He also had 396 runs in 3 Ranji Trophy 2021-22 games, including two centuries in a row (117 against Delhi and 127 against Chhattisgarh). At the IPL 2022 auction, KKR picked him up. He played in three games and scored 21 runs.
