Both the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) have performed absolutely horrendously in the weeks leading up to their meeting in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). With no wins in two games, MI is one rung higher than DC, who are in last place in the points table but have lost all three of their games thus far. The Indians have the third-worst net run rate, while the Capitals have the worst.
In Delhi, both teams will be without key players. Khaleel Ahmed, who is said to be dealing with a problem, and Mitchell Marsh, who is back in Australia for his marriage, will be out for the home team.
In contrast, Mumbai was without Jofra Archer in the previous match and may be without the star pacer again this time around.
The two teams’ recent head-to-head records indicate their progress in the IPL, with DC winning three of their last five games against MI. The fact that the chasing team has won the toss every time is even more telling, giving the toss a lot of weight.
DC vs. MI, IPL 2023 Match Prediction: Teams that haven’t won try to start.
The problems DC has faced have come from the top.
Even though he has two half-centuries, Captain David Warner has frequently appeared out of touch in IPL 2023, and his strike rate has been significantly below average thus far. In contrast, his opening partner, Prithvi Shaw, hasn’t been at the crease long enough to score any significant runs.
The middle unit of the Capitals has also failed to inspire much faith. In the competition thus far, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw, and Rovman Powell have not performed at their best. In the mean time, Sarfaraz Khan and Abishek Porel haven’t legitimized their monstrous potential with their exhibitions.
MI, on the other hand, boasts a potent batting lineup. In IPL 2023, however, their primary batters have not shown up. While Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green have scored up two disappointments on the jog, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Tim David in fact haven’t bombed yet haven’t performed by the same token.
In their two games thus far, young Tilak Varma has been Mumbai’s most effective batter.
Sadly, the bowling department has not provided much to write home about. The five-time champions haven’t had a single player step up and regularly make significant progress.
Coming up against a bowling attack as fragile as MI’s, especially at home, would be a pleasant surprise for DC. How will the weather in Delhi play out on Tuesday?
Pacers bowled the majority of the overs in the previous match played at the venue. In the powerplay, Mohammed Shami and Anrich Nortje showed a lot of swing, getting two scalps each.
Overall, the away team should be able to use their batting power to score their first points, despite the fact that MI’s bowling issues may favor DC. There is a possibility of a close contest that could go either way, with Rohit and Co. having a slight advantage.
Prediction: MI will prevail in IPL 2023 Match 16.
