Shanaka has played as a Right-arm medium bowler and Right-handed batter for the Sri Lanka men’s national cricket team from 2015 to the present.
Dasun Shanaka has dropped Sri Lanka’s 16-member team due to the poor performance of one of its players in the ODI format.
This player has not been able to score even a single half-century in a total of 21 ODI innings, which is a matter of great concern for the team.
Dasun Shanaka played a total of 71 ODI matches and smashed 1,299 runs with the top score of 108 runs. In the past 21 ODI matches his performance has been seen as very bad, which is a big thing for the Sri Lanka cricket team.
Shanaka started his professional cricket career with the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2015. In domestic cricket, he played for several teams including Rangapur Riders, Sylhet Sixers, Chittagong Vikings, Gujarat Titans, and more teams.
In 2019, he was also made the captain of Sri Lanka’s T20 team for the series against Pakistan and the team won by 64 runs. This was Sri Lanka’s first victory after 6 years of victory.
Dasun was also left out as white-ball captain before the start of the Zimbabwe series. Shanaka played his last ODI match against Zimbabwe on 11 January 2024.
