Daniel Vettori announces the new head coach of sunrisers Hyderabad, check out!
SunRisers Hyderabad has announced Daniel Vettori as their new head coach, replacing Brian Lara who took over coaching duties for the 2023 Indian Premier League season. This change follows a disappointing 2023 season for SRH, where they finished last on the points table with four wins and ten losses. This will be the fourth head coach change for the Hyderabad-based team in just six seasons. Tom Moody coached the team in 2019 and 2022, while Trevor Bayliss was the team’s head coach in 2020 and 2021.
Daniel Vettori, a retired New Zealand spinner, has showcased his coaching abilities in the Indian Premier League as head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2018. Presently, he leads the Birmingham Phoenix team in the Hundred League. Additionally, he joined the Australian men’s team as an assistant coach in May 2022. Sunrisers bid farewell to Brian Lara as his 2-year association with the team comes to an end. They express gratitude for his contributions to the team and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
During the 2022 season, Lara held the roles of strategic advisor and batting coach for SRH. After Tom Moody’s departure, he was promoted to the position of head coach for the team.
Last season, SRH made significant changes to their support staff and playing squad, including replacing Tom Moody with Lara. They also released Kane Williamson and named South African Aiden Markram as their new captain. Despite these changes, they had a disappointing campaign, winning only four out of their 14 matches and finishing last in the 10-team competition. Vettori, who was previously the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2018, has now joined the team.
