CWG 2022: Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem wins Javelin Gold with 90.18m throw, India’s Rohit, and Manu miss podium
CWG 2022: Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem Wins Javelin Gold With 90.18m Throw: Arshad Nadeem, a javelin thrower from Pakistan, was the first javelin thrower from the sub-continent to go over the 90-meter mark on Sunday, which enabled him to win the gold medal in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. That was his strategy to win the competition.
As a result of the fact that Nadeem was the first person to get over the 90-meter mark, he was granted the opportunity to compete against Neeraj Chopra of India, who brought home the gold medal for his country at the Tokyo Olympics. Regularly, Nadeem and Chopra go head to head against one another in competition.
On Sunday, in this city’s Alexander Stadium, Nadeem’s fifth throw set a Games Record with a distance of 90.18 meters and a personal best of 90.18 meters. He also broke the record for his own personal best. Because of this, he shot to the top of the standings and put himself in a position where he could potentially win a medal.
Anderson Peters of Grenada, a former world champion, finished in second place with a personal best throw of 88.64 meters, moving him up one spot from his previous position. In the annals of the Commonwealth Games, not only was it some sort of record for the farthest-ever second-place throw in the event’s history, but it was also some kind of record.
Season
Julius Yego of Kenya threw a season’s best of 85.70 meters to win the bronze medal. In the process, he also established a new personal best for himself.
Both D.P. Manu of India and Rohit Yadav of India competed in the javelin throw competition. D.P. Manu’s best effort was 82.28 meters, and Rohit Yadav’s best effort was 82.22 meters. Chopra was not there to participate in the competition.
Both the throw at the World Athletics Championships of 88.13 meters and the throw that Neeraj Chopra had at the Tokyo Olympic Games of 87.58 meters, which had won the Indian athlete the gold medal, were surpassed by Nadeem’s effort on Sunday. In both of these contests, Nadeem had achieved a second-place result, trailing only Chopra.
Even though they are rivals on the playing field, Nadeem and Chopra are actually very close friends who are always rooting for and congratulating each other on their successes.
Their friendship has recently been brought up as a topic of discussion in the social media circles in which both of their neighbors are active. Now that Nadam has passed Chopra, the rivalry is poised to grow a lot more intense because Chopra has always aimed toward going over the 90-meter threshold.
