According to the Sun, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr plans to play in a futuristic new 45,000-seater stadium in the future.
Al-Alami now plays in Al-Awaal Park, a 25,000-capacity venue.
The Saudi Pro League club, however, may soon relocate to a new stadium.
Saudi Arabia plans to build a futuristic stadium with a capacity of 45,000 people.
Aside from that, hundreds of meters of LED displays will broadcast images from beneath the earth.
A lake will also be developed under the stadium, with a height of 22 meters.
The stadium is being built in anticipation of the Gulf States’ bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, for which they are currently the lone bidder following Australia’s withdrawal.
The arena is projected to be completed by 2030.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund is funding the futuristic project through the Qiddiya Investment Company.
Populous, the company that constructed Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, has been assigned the task.
Saudi Public Investment has stated their new initiative, which says (via The Sun):
The futuristic arena seeks to rethink the classic stadium idea.
The lake will use rainwater collected from the stadium and its surroundings to precool the air conditioning system.
When the project is done, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr will share the stadium with Al-Hilal, their local rival.
Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro expresses his support for Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr as a free agent on December 31, 2022.
He was undoubtedly at the low point of his spectacular career at the time.
Ronaldo was benched for Portugal’s knockout games at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after his side was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
He also had a difficult season at Manchester United before departing by mutual termination of his contract.
However, since joining Al-Nassr, the Portuguese great has transformed his career.
He concluded 2023 with 54 goals for club and country, the most of any player in global football.
Al-Nassr coach Luis Castro has shown confidence in the 38-year-old player, telling Chinese site Titan Sports, “If Cristiano is in a team, he will play.”
It is not to be overlooked. That doesn’t exist. The greatest are for playing, not for missing out. Quality has no age.
Cristiano is still far from his limit. He is in fantastic shape.
And, I say, excellence does not age. If he is a 14/15-year-old player, they will argue he is too young.
Why such a young age? He has talent, and he needs to play. The same goes for a 40-year-old player.
Cristiano Ronaldo has returned Luis Castro’s confidence with incredible on-field achievements.
He has 24 goals and 11 assists in 25 appearances across competitions for Al-Nassr this season.
