Cristiano Ronaldo, a star player for Manchester United, has been linked with a shocking move back to his old team. Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Manchester United, has been talked about going back to Sporting Lisbon to escape his nightmare at Old Trafford. Santi Aouna, a reporter for Foot Mercato, says that the Portuguese club knows the deal will be “complex” to make. Hugo Viana, who is in charge of sports, is working hard behind the scenes to get Ronaldo back to his first club.
What are his plans?
The 37-year-old started his career with Sporting Lisbon, but in 2003, he moved to Manchester United. Reports say that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wants to leave Old Trafford this summer to play in the Champions League.
Even though it’s unlikely that Sporting will win Europe’s most coveted club prize this season, they will still be in the tournament because they came in second last season.
Ronaldo still has a year left on his contract at Manchester United, which is the poorest team in the Premier League right now.
Season News
On the first day of the season, Portugal lost at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. The captain played for 45 minutes. He did, however, play all 90 minutes of United’s 4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday night (13 August).
This summer, the legendary forward has been linked to some of Europe’s best teams, but he hasn’t found a way to move.
Pundit says Manchester United needs to make a prominent decision about Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, after coming back to Old Trafford last summer, played 38 games for the club and scored 24 goals. But because Ten Hag wants his attackers to press hard, it’s not clear whether or not the experienced attacker can work in the Dutchman’s system.
Paddy Kenny, a former goalkeeper for Leeds and Sheffield United, thinks the 20-time English champions have an extensive choice to make. He told Football Insider:
“He hasn’t had a full pre-season. His future is up in the air, I saw he has been leaving games early, it’s not looking good. It’s a difficult one for Ten Hag. He won’t want to play Ronaldo because of his behaviour this summer but you have to play him because of how bad they have been.”
“We don’t know what is going on with his future, do clubs even want to sign him? It’s not like they are queueing up, is it? The club needs changes, we know this. Would it be better for Ronaldo to leave? It’s a hard one. He guarantees you goals.”
He further added, “But he is also a negative influence. Someone at the club needs to make a big decision here and they need to do it ASAP, before the window closes.”
