Cricket legend Robin Uthappa announces retirement from all forms of Indian cricket: Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa announces his retirement from all forms of cricket. Uthappa made his debut for India in 2000 and scored 934 runs over 46 ODIs, before retiring from the sport.
Robin Uthapa said that he is going to retire from cricket on Wednesday. He openly announced it on twitter. It was an honor to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, as is the case with all good things in this world, those times must come to end and I have decided to retire from all forms of cricket. Thank you for your support, Robin posted on Twitter.
The Karnataka stalwart expressed gratitude for his many years as an active cricketer, with the decision to retire coming after much deliberation.
In 20 years the first thing I did was to represent my country. Karnataka has been a place where I have grown as a person and there are many ups and downs that make every journey worthwhile.
Cricket will be a major part of my retirement days, but I’m looking forward to charting a new phase in my life. This will involve spending significant time with my family, as well as being able to pursue new opportunities.
He thanked Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings for the past season. In the last IPL, Uthappa played 12 matches for Chennai and scored 230 runs with his highest score being 88.
Uthappa is a middle order batsman who represented India in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup team. He made his debut for India two years later and played ODI and T20 cricket for India. In ODIs, he scored 934 and 249 runs, as well as 39 wickets in T20s. Uthappa has 9446 first-class runs and 6534 List A runs under his belt. He has won two IPL trophy with KKR in 2014 and CSK in 2021 respectively
