One of the formerly rising powerhouses of African cricket, Cricket Kenya, is on a mission to reclaim its former glory. A Mega T10 league has been been declared by Cricket Kenya under the new management, and it will begin in the middle of 2023. It will be played in June 2023 and will be the second event of its kind in Africa and the world.
There will be a 6-team, 34-game competition using the quickest cricket format. Cricket Kenya looks forward to hosting an annual African Gala event where the top international players will compete in the league. They have officially added Pacific Star Sports (a group entity of Toyam Sports Limited) as a League Partner as the first step toward establishing the league.
Each starting XI for Africa T10 will consist of 1 Associate player, 1 African player, 2 Kenyan players, and 7 other global players. Africa’s own Global T10 League is expected to be created by this. Manoj Patel, Chairman of Cricket Kenya, offered the following statement regarding the collaboration: “We are pleased to design a Global short-format, yearly cricket tournament in association with Pacific Star Sports.
The African cricket community as a whole, and Kenya cricket in particular, would greatly benefit from our effort. The T20 League would be the second of its type after the T10 League established in the UAE, and we look forward to welcoming all international T20 talents to participate. Africa T10 will be a celebration of cricket and African hospitality, according to Ali Akbar Khan of Pacific Star Sports (PSS).
One of the most thrilling T10 cricket forms will be created, and we are excited about it. to deliver top-notch cricket to Kenya on a worldwide scale. For Kenyan players, this would be a fantastic learning opportunity, but it would also be first-hand entertainment and a fantastic cricketing show for the global audience, fueled by the biggest international stars for the home crowd.”
Toyam Sports Ltd. (TSL) CMD Mohamedali Budhwani stated “With this affiliation, we are ecstatic. The two major pillars on which our business is constructed are giving worthy sportsmen a worldwide platform and promoting sports. This proposal is beneficial to us because Cricket Kenya also shares the same vision.
We see significant advantages for the indigenous talent there, and we are still optimistic that Kenyan Cricket will rediscover its former prominence on the international stage. In order to engage millions of fans worldwide, raise playing standards, and benefit all the partners, we want to offer a top-notch cricket league.
In order to serve as the exclusive official commercial & strategic consultants for Africa T10, Pacific Star Sports has enlisted the assistance of its strategic partner ITW Consulting. This is a tremendous development and a critical turning point for cricket in the nation, which made its World Cup debut in 1996 and knocked on the doors of the big boys’ league in 2003 by reaching the ICC ODI World Cup, 2003 Semifinals.
