Cricket Board chief selectors not good enough for Amir
Cricket Board chief selectors not good enough for Amir: “Cheap selection”: Mohd Amir slams PCB chief selector Wasim after Pakistan announce squad for their upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The Pakistan men’s cricket team announced their 15-man squad on Thursday, and will travel to Australia to take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next month. The team will also play under the leadership of Babar Azam with a hope to win the title again after being out of it for 13 years.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the Men in Green’s 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which starts exactly a month from now. This year’s tournament will be held in Australia, and Pakistan named five pacers to the squad: Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Shah Afridi.Afridi, 22 years old, is currently rehabilitating in London but he’s expected to be ready for Pakistan’s next match against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.
Although a good looking squad was announced for the T20 mega event, several former players have criticized the selection. Mohammad Amir took to Twitter regarding this selection and said that it doesn’t make sense.
The highlight of the squad announced on October 10th was Shan Masood, a Pakistani veteran who has never played any international T20 cricket with them before. He replaces superstar Fakhar Zaman while he is in the reserves.
Shaheen’s addition to the team is a big positive for Pakistan. He missed, recently, the Asia Cup T20 tournament due to a knee injury. Afridi is undergoing rehabilitation in London these days and will join the team on October 15th as well.
This is the Pakistan Cricket Board’s 15 man squad for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup. Several Pakistani players were also selected. Speaking to reporters after this announcement, PCB chief selector Wasim said that they have picked a strong team.
We have faith and confidence in the same set of players who have been part of the T20I Squad post-the win of the 2021 World Cup. The team is projected to perform strongly in 2022.
These cricketers have been performing well, and that is why we have won nine out of our last 13 T20 matches. We’ve invested in these players, so it is fair to them that they get the opportunity to excel at the World Cup, an event which they’ve been preparing for and training hard for.
This year, Pakistan will hope to win their first T20 World Cup title. In the 2009 edition of the competitive event, played in United Arab Emirates, Pakistan managed to reach the semifinals where they lost a close match against eventual winners Australia.
