Corbin Bosch, a South African all-around player, frequently celebrates victories with an imagined hammer because he is such a great admirer of Thor from the Marvel Universe. In the last year, he has increased the strength of his hitting and now knocks bowlers away like the Marvel superhero does bad guys with Mjolnir. Therefore, it is only natural that Bosch would get the moniker, Thor.
During the CPL, Bosch stated, “I adore all their [Marvel] movies and I’m a big fan of their Avengers series and growing up, Thor has been my favorite character. So, when I first arrived at the CPL, my first goal was to attempt to host a party with each and every Marvel character beginning with Thor, and it just sort of stuck.
I play cricket to love the sport, and this is one of the celebrations that has lasted with me. When South Africa won the 2014 Under-19 World Cup final in the UAE, Bosch was named Player of the Match. After the U-19 victory, his senior career did not quite take off as anticipated, but now that he has made it to the major leagues in 2022, he is finally receiving attention.
Bosch was a fill-in player for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL last season, and the Barbados team signed him for the CPL. Even though the Royals fell to the Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL final, his versatility with the bat was one of the game’s high points. Bosch is prepared to perform flawlessly for the Royals once more, this time at home in the SA20.
It’s a recognized venue for individuals, like myself, to just demonstrate their abilities, demonstrate who they are, and demonstrate how they can dominate – whether with a bat or a ball. Unknown players suddenly find themselves in the spotlight on one of the largest stages in the world. Who will be the next great thing to come out of South Africa?
It’s possible that Bosch is just that. To develop his six-hitting and his ability to pound the pitch with the ball, which are skills that are sought after in T20 cricket, he has gained weight. In domestic cricket, he often bats further down the order for Titans, but Royals management noticed some promise in his batting and employed him as a pinch-hitter at No. 3 in the CPL.
So, when I was honing my talents back home with the Titans, I got my brain around it. I still feel like I’m just getting started with my batting and I still have a lot to learn. I’m trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can while figuring out what works for me and what doesn’t.
