The Football Association (FA) has filed charges against Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Antonio Conte in the wake of their altercation during Sunday’s emotional Premier League tie at Stamford Bridge. Check out complete details about it below.
Conte and Tuchel were charged with inappropriate behaviour
After a 2-2 draw that saw tempers rise, the two managers shook hands before facing off on the field and being separated by players and staff from both clubs.
Due to the altercation, referee Anthony Taylor also issued red cards to both managers.
The FA released a statement in which it said that “it is alleged that both managers’ conduct was unlawful following the conclusion of the match.”
They have till Thursday to react to the accusations.
The FA is also looking into Tuchel’s remarks after the German coach criticised Taylor for his choices.
Tuchel said that the incorrect judgments made by Taylor and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) allowed Spurs to leave Stamford Bridge with a point.
Tuchel lamented the “great misreading of events” in his post-game press conference and declared it “would be better” if Taylor were no longer in charge of officiating Chelsea games.
After the game, Chelsea supporters started an online petition that has garnered more than 122,000 signatures urging for Taylor to no longer be given games by the team going forward.
Even though Tuchel and Conte had a heated argument during the game, they were both rather cool-headed and maintained they didn’t have any animosity afterward.
Former Chelsea manager Conte further made a playful jab at Tuchel on Instagram, writing that he was relieved to have missed the German cheering the second goal by sprinting towards the touchline that causing him trip over it would have been well deserved.
