Coby White trade discussions fall short of what the Bulls want. It’s no secret that this offseason, the Chicago Bulls have been actively looking to trade Coby White. His name was most recently mentioned in various draught night trade rumors. The Bulls are still looking for a home for White, but Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the prospective rewards have fallen short of the team’s asking price.

Working on trade now makes sense because White won’t be able to sign a new contract after the 2022–23 season. If trade interest does not increase, the Bulls may be able to retain him for a low cost for the upcoming season because Chicago will be allowed to match any offer he receives.

It appears that White will be back in a Bulls come October given this recent development. The upcoming campaign will be a “prove it” year for White after an erratic 2021–22 season. The North Carolina product is still one of the Bulls’ better offensive bench alternatives as a microwave scorer despite his shortcomings. He can also relieve Lonzo Ball of some of the minute’s load as worries about the point guard’s knee problems develop.

Coby White will need to do better than his 2021–22 averages of 12.7 PPG and 38.5 percent three-point shooting if he is given these opportunities. Additionally, the Chicago Bulls would benefit from any progress on the defensive end. It shouldn’t be difficult for White to pick up some expertise and advice from Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, two of the league’s top perimeter defenders.
